  • GROWTH - a Kaleido paper

For many years now, CEOs and HRMs have been seeking to align the wider objectives of their organisation with the personal development paths of their staff. Initially, inspiring exercises were carried out in these organisations, focusing on mission, vision and values. Increasingly, however, a huge gulf was observed between the tangible nature of this "board room exercise" and staff on the shop floor. However inspiring, these exercises all too seldom had the required effect for staff in reality, with the result that they quickly faded and rarely achieved results. Many HRMs then moved on to a tried and tested attempt at competency thinking, in the hope of combining the development of staff with the wider organisation. This method has now come under fire, however, mainly from business managers who fail to see any link with the results of the organisation. From the point of view of aligned business and personal growth, the Expectations Framework creates a new insight and may be a means of gearing these two growth paths to one another on the basis of clearly defined business objectives. In this paper Charlie Keeling (COO & HRD Field Fisher Waterhouse) and Pascale Gorris (partner Kaleido Consulting) explain their thoughts on the benefits of the Expectations Framework in service-oriented companies. They also provide insight into the way in which the method can be established in practice in the HR life & performance cycle, and the direct link with business objectives. • COMMITMENT - a Kaleido paper

Creating commitment is a permanent concern for many leadership teams. This is understandable. Scientific research indicates that committed associates show a higher productivity and profitability and generate increased customer satisfaction. Committed associates show a positive, emotional connection towards their daily, professional activities. They understand how their efforts contribute to the success of the organization. And they often make extra efforts to achieve their own, as well as their company’s objectives. Being able to rely on committed associates is a dream scenario for many leadership teams. The question is: how can we make sure that our associates are really committed? In this paper, Marcel Willems, partner at Kaleido Consulting, provides you with concrete guidelines for engaging in a mission/vision exercise and discloses a methodology to create commitment throughout the organisation. • CHANGE - a Kaleido paper

There is an increasing awareness amongst business people that change is not an intermittent pain but more of a permanent concern. In a world characterized by volatility and uncertainty, companies need to be fully equipped to overcome barriers to value and to tap into new opportunities. Despite this realisation, business leaders are still often confronted by organisations that are not able to react quickly enough or adequately enough to changes, rather like oil tankers on the high seas: the problem is spotted, the rudder is quickly applied, but the reaction fails to materialise. In this paper, Hans Donckers and Geert Geens (both Senior Consultants at Kaleido Consulting) share three fundamental insights about change. In a second section, they zoom in on three crucial intervention strategies. You can download this revealing paper as attachment on the right hand side of this page.

  • Kaleido Consulting welcomes Evelien De Kerpel and Michal Teunkens.

Kaleido consolidates her position in the market with the entrance of two new faces in the company. Evelien De Kerpel graduated as MSc in psychology at the University of Brussels in 2007. After a short passage at ING, she started as HR Business Consultant at PwC. Within the Tax & Legal department she worked on topics within Recruitment & Selection and Performance Management. Evelien is eager to stimulate her development further and finds within Kaleido the ideal setting. We also welcome back Michal Teunkens within the organization. After a first passage as part-time consultant at Kaleido in 2002, combining this with a research mandate at the University of Brussels, Michal continued his professional life as HR Business Partner at BASF. After a period of 4 years Michal moved on to Technubel and ECS acting as HR Manager with responsibility for several change trajectories and for the roll out of multiple personnel management systems. Michal returns this June back to his first love, consulting, and will use his gained business experience to the maximum for clients and the coaching of younger colleagues.
